OUR humanitarian MISSION

Noorishing Hands is a relief effort to provide support & resources to Armenian soldiers and families impacted by the recent war in Artsakh, Armenia. More than 100,000 Armenians have been displaced from their indigenous lands in Artsakh and are currently in desperate need and extended support for shelter, food, aid, and much more.

Origin Story

@NoorishingHands is a humanitarian relief effort that sprung from a personal mission. Armenian small business owners Kevork & Tina Kevorkian of Buka Maranga Cafe & Catering in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada met Armenian Paralympian Stasik Nazaryan and his wife Karine at the 2016 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon and have been long-distance friends ever since.

In the wake of the recent war in Artsakh, Armenia, Kevork & Tina received regular updates on the events from Stasik & Karine. Stasik mentioned that his family was doing their best within their own financial means to support Artsakh families who needed help with shelter and food.

Kevork & Tina began with a personal donation of $3000. They have personally donated $10,000, feeding 100 families, since October 2020. The funds donated to the relief effort are used cost-effectively. Decisions are made to purchase necessities only. For example, no junk food is purchased, and chicken is purchased instead of more expensive beef. Displaced families have also received help for shelter, furnishing, and bedding. We've already begun, and now we invite you to join our cause. Noorishing Hands is now a collective mission. 100% of revenue from the sale of @BukaBagel bagels & spreads are presently being donated, so that you can directly help give back with #BagelsForCause.

 Նուռ (“nuur”) is Armenian for “pomegranate”. 

The pomegranate is a national Armenian symbol. We've incorporated "noor" into our direct-help mission of nourishing human lives.

Buka Maranga Cafe & Catering is a local family business in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Canada is our home, Armenia is our ethnic homeland. As Armenians in the diaspora, we feel compelled and obligated to do our part to distribute aid to civilians impacted by recent war events.

A LABOUR OF LOVE

We raise and distribute funds through our friends & partners in Armenia, who purchase essential items and deliver direct help to the soldiers and displaced families of Artsakh affected by war conflict.

We collaborate with Armenia’s national Paralympian athlete, Stasik Nazaryan with the distribution of our funds. Stasik along with his wife, Karine Nazaryan, have been tirelessly working for the past two months to meet the needs of families displaced from Artsakh.
